Saturday was Bayimba International Festival’s second day as the event marks 10years.
Several artistes were lined up for the day including big names like Jose Chameleone, Maurice Kirya, Lily Kadima and Percussion Discussion.
However, the name on people’s lips is Chance Nalubega who has been off the music scene for close to 20 years.
Performing in the Auditorium, Chance Nalubega proved wrong the organisers for allocating her a wrong place. She literally brought the roof of the auditorium down with some of her classics.
Kicking off with her monster hit, ‘Abakyakala Mukyakale’, Chance prepared the audience for what was ahead.
By the time she started performing her second song, ‘Bichupuli Group’, the audience had already abandoned their seats and were on their feet. This was the first time such was happening since the auditorium is meant for seating and the audience always keeps it to that.
However, Chance’s music proved hard to leave anyone in one’s seat.
Almost everyone was singing to her songs. Perhaps she anticipated this as she never came with backup singers save for her instrumentalists otherwise they wouldn’t have had much to do. The audience perfectly did the job.
The climax of her performance was when she performed her song ‘Abatesi’ which got everyone singing and pulling out their best dance moves.
Those not shy even joined her on stage, attracting ululations.
She was crowned a legend by the audience as soon as her performance came to an end.
The other songs performed included, Abenuggu, Abalungi Balumya, Byansobera among others.
Today is the final day of the festival. Among today’s festival include Kadongo Kamu icon, Lord Fred Ssebatta and Bobi Wine.
