Uganda's Justice Mulenga Is Dead

The retired Justice of the Supreme Court Joseph Nyamihana Mulenga has today Wednesday passed on.

Mulenga succumbed to cancer at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala where was admitted after a short illness.

The spokesman of the judiciary Elias Kisawuzi confirmed the death, saying Uganda had lost a man who treasured justice and workedselflessly to serve his nation.

Kisawuzi said the judiciary was working closely with Mulenga’s family to ensure the departed judge gets a befitting burial.

Mulenga graduated from the London University with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and was called to the English Bar by the Middle Temple Inn of Court.

He first worked as a Public Prosecutor in the Department of Public Prosecutions in Uganda, rising through the ranks from Pupil State Attorney to Senior State Attorney.

He later worked for some years as a legal practitioner in private practice.

 He served as Minister of Justice and Attorney-General before being appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda until his retirement.
