Wednesday 27th September being World Tourism day, Jumia Travel Uganda hosted 20 Journalists to a Media Trip to Ssese Islands in Kalangala District.
Ssese Islands was the official destination for the National celebrations where all stakeholders in the Tourism sector came together to celebrate the day.
The celebrations were officiated by the Vice President H.E.Edward Ssekandi who in his remarks called for sustainable utilization of natural resources for tourism development.
The focus was to create more awareness on key travel destinations in Uganda and unlock its tourism potential thus contributing to National development. The national hashtag was #TulambuleSseIsland with Jumia Travel’s being #JumiaTourismDay.
The trip started from Kampala through Masaka where the team headed to the Ferry in Bukakata which docks in Bugoma.
After an hour’s drive from Bugoma to Kalangala District the team stopped off briefly at the celebrations where they proceeded for a delicious meal at Brovad Sands Lodge.
As expected, the much craved for fish was part of the menu. Many proved to be its greatest fans as fried fish could be seen on almost all plates.
The other thing which couldn’t go unnoticed was the Restaurant’s ambiance. Located on the shores of Lake Victoria, the hotel provides a good view for the beautiful scenery of other Islands. The leafy compound also provides a serene atmosphere. Actually, it’s here that meals were served.
More to that is, the architecture of the restaurant is one of its kind on the Island. It would completely make one forget about Kampala as it provides almost the same services one would get from a big restaurant in Kampala.
Jumia Travel Uganda was excited to be part of these celebrations and continues to be a big part of the Tourism sector.
Country Manager Timothy Mugume says, “Domestic Tourism is a big resource for revenue and a big contributor to the GDP. We should tour our lovely country and while at it discover more ways of how we can add value and get value”.
