Beauty comes at a cost, no matter what Mother Nature has gifted you with! We are always touching up, concealing, correcting or enhancing things on our bodies. It costs dedication, time, commitment, money and as they say– no pain, no gain! From diets, skin treatments, exercise regimes and a million other details … it costs!
From when one wakes up . . . hot water and lemon, skin treatments, make up, fitting clothes, high heeled shoes, to watching the sugar in your coffee and tea once at work! No fried foods only steamed or boiled! No bread, no cake, thanks! Lunch is rice and some greens, no sauces, no meats! Want to stay lean!
And have we even broached the subject of hair? Regrowth? Braids coming undone or looking wiry? Dry hair, breaking and splitting! Can my scalp take the weaves, do I treat do I go natural?
Dinner is just some tea and morsels of bread, nothing else, are you kidding? And did you exercise? Yes! Did you work the abs and glutes? No, bad girl! Tomorrow!
Out with friends? Yes, please! But!!! Can I slip into that short skirt? Will they see the bumps and rolls? If I go, can I eat? If I eat a lot people will think I’m a greedy pig and have no self-control! If I drink, I’m drinking my calories! If I wear the high heels my feet will hurt, but without my legs look fat!
Endless internal melodrama, endless self torture and decisions! A continuous hammering to self confidence and self image in trying to emulate the models and Kim’s of this world with 0.0000018% of their budget!
Beauty comes at no small price, it’s just a question of how much you are willing to pay and sacrifice for it! The time and worry it takes from you can never be recuperated! Is it time to let some things go and be more natural or find the so-called middle ground? In other words some form of balance to things and one’s lifestyle!
