Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Betty Amongi Ongom has appointed Judy Rugasira Kyanda as the chairperson of the Surveyors Registration Board in accordance with section 6 (1) of the Surveyors Registration Act Cap. 275.
The board’s primary function is to regulate and control the profession of surveyors and the activities of registered surveyors within Uganda and advise the government in relation to those functions. The board is currently comprised of members under three disciplines; land surveying, Quantity surveying and Valuation Surveying.
Judy Rugasira Kyanda, who takes over from Richard Masereje, holds a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Land Management and a MSc. in International Real Estate from the University of Reading (UK). She is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), which demonstrates qualification and work experience to the highest industry standards. Judy Rugasira Kyanda was the Vice President of the Association of Real Estate Agents (AREA) Uganda 2012 – 2014, Director of the Africa Real Estate Society (AFRES) and an honorary member of Enterprise Group – Uganda. She currently works as the Managing Director of UK based real estate firm, Knight Frank Uganda.
