Nyege Nyege International Music Festival (#NNIMF17) releases its final lineup for the 3rd edition of the annual music festival at the source of the Nile River in Jinja, Uganda. All acts are now 100% confirmed. From 1st – 3rd September 2017 Nyege Nyege presents its unique fusion of international and African sounds at the idyllic venue Nile Discovery Beach.
The festival, which launched in 2015 immediately established its reputation as one of the best new music festivals worldwide and has continued to be celebrated by festival fans and music editors for mixing stellar curation with Uganda’s renowned party vibes. Pre Sale tickets for this year’s 72-hour celebration are available to purchase for $36 (130,000 Ugandan shillings) online until Wednesday 26th of August. Nyege Nyege releases its final additions to this year’s line-up, with the best in influential and eclectic musical acts influenced by the African continent.Artists added to the line up include rising Ugandan dance hall star Latinum, Canadian Tropical Bass star Ghislain Poirier, UK’s global dance floor force Cervo, up and coming Kenyan producer Sichangi who is making waves worldwide, as well as Ugandan reggae artist AK Simba who will bring his Belgian-based band “Karamoja” to debut their new EP.
French/Brazilian DJ A Macaca and Kenyan tech house producer Mawe round up the packed line up, joining our Cameroonian headliners Reniss and Jovi, making Nyege Nyege Festival 2017 the biggest music event to have taken place in East Africa yet! The festival will also showcase Ugandan label Nyege Nyege Tapes, who, since their launch in January 2017, have garnered worldwide critical acclaim showcasing emerging underground East Africa artists including Sisso Records, Disco Vumbi and Otim Alpha.
With 4 stages this year, the 72-hour musical celebration is sure to impress festival goers once again. This year’s sound will be unparalleled in the region, with support from the Nairobi underground who are bringing not one, but two sound systems: the Umojah rig, the first dedicated reggae/dub-style sound system built in Kenya, and East Africa’s first Funktion-One sound system coming to Uganda for the first time.
