DStv Uganda, the leading video entertainment company in the country has announced the title sponsorship for the Kampala Kids Run scheduled to take place on 3 December 2017 from the Uganda Museum.
The sponsorship entails the following:
- Media roll-out for the awareness and encouragement of participation for the Kids Run
- Reward incentives for up to 10 participating students to win school fees at a draw that will be held on 3 December 2017
- Selling points for participants to purchase tickets for the run
All the above have warranted DStv’s title sponsorship.
This partnership will mutually benefit DStv and Kids Run organisers. For DStv, it is expected that more customers will be reached through the marketing of the DStv Explora to parents of the participants. For the Kids Run, funding and ticket sales points will be widened through this partnership with DStv.
Making remarks about the partnership Phoebe Nakabazzi, DStv Marketing Manager said: “DStv remains committed to enhancing the lives of our young citizens. This year we made a commitment to contribute to the welfare and development of children’s talents through various sports sponsorships. The Kampala Kids Run is the perfect climax to the activities we have been part and parcel of since the beginning of this year. The future athletes of our country need the support and encouragement to develop their skills further and as DStv we are proud we can be influential in that regard. Further to that DStv prides itself for bringing families together both through the entertaining channels we carry as well as the activities we partake in, the Kids Run is no different.”
“The sponsorship will also cover items such as the runner and official’s kits, school fees for up to 10 children for next term; DStv will also support the Kids Run in creating awareness for run through various media platforms,” Nakabazzi added.
Muslin Kiwanuka, Chairman of the Kampala Kids Run, appreciated the support and thanked DStv Uganda, saying: “We are thankful to DStv for the belief in our product and more so the belief in these young children. We are proud that the proceeds of this run will go towards a good cause – safe drinking water for children in schools. All credit has to go to all the participants for the contribution towards the lives of children in schools. We are confident that this sponsorship will be a big boost for the Kids Run.The fact that as a nation we are now more fitness alert makes this run that much more special because ensuring the fitness of the young will groom them towards a certain lifestyle as adults.”
Two races will be carried out on the day, 1.5 and 3km races. Other partners include Athletics Federation, Case Clinic as well as Uganda Police, who will provide adequate security for the runners on the day.
Kiwanuka concluded by saying: “Other activities that participants and parents should partake in include face painting, egg hunting, bouncing castles and other exciting activities for children.”
Tickets for the run will be sold at all MultiChoice branches in Kampala, Serena Kampala Hotel, Prudential Insurance on Kampala Road and at all participating schools at UGX 20,000 each. A ticket entitles the runner to a T-shirt and waterbottle.
