Real Madrid star and Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to add an international accolade to his trophy cabinet when his side face tournament hosts France in the EURO 2016 finals in Saint Denis on Sunday.
Can Ronaldo upset the odds and hurt the hosts?
The 31 year old will be relishing the chance to clinch top honours against are phenomenal French side after dragging his unconvincing Portuguese side to the Euro finals; a feat Selecao last managed in 2004 when they hosted the tournament but lost to Greece.
CR7 helped dispatch Madrid teammate Gareth Bale’s Welsh side on Thursday evening after scoring the opener and assisting former Manchester United teammate Luis Nani’s second. The three time Balon D’or winner will be hoping his new found form in the tournament will count for something when he faces Les Bleus.
European glory will be an adequate consolation for the Portugal’s golden era as it draws to a halt. A victory on Sunday will also better CR7’s chances to win his fourth Balon D’or after losing out to his Argentine rival Lionel Messi for the last two terms.
