But why the tongue,
Well it is the manufacturer of words and words are the future, words are mightier than the gun, the sword and the atomic bomb.
Nothing beats words. When Otto Von Bismarck said, the great questions of the day will not be settled by means of speeches and majority decisions but by iron and blood, he was speaking words.
Words have brought to power the greatest men and have led to the downfall of the most powerful of leaders, they have caused war, bloodshed and massacre and at the sametime have blessed us with peace. They have put to a stop the most treacherous of wars.
So we always have to think through what we say, because we cannot take back words.
I once read in a book a story about a man that went over to a Guru. He had uttered some horrible statements to his partner, and was in a state of unrest.
He asked the Guru how he could sort this out and the guru told him, “My son, tomorrow at dawn, when the 1st cock crows, go to the city square with a sack of feathers and let them free into the air and then return to me.” The man did that exactly and returned to the guru.
The guru then told him to go back to the city square and pick up the feathers. Obviously this was mission impossible!!!!!!!! And when he returned featherless, the guru told him,” My son, the words released by the tongue are like those feathers, once you let them out, you have let them out.”
I hope we now get how powerful words are and the kind of impact they can have on your life.
It was words that put Barack Obama into power, words that rallied on the Arab spring, words that incited xenophobia in south Africa, radio statements that incited the Rwanda genocide, Didier Drogba’s words that ended the Ivorian civil war, to mention but a few.
[related_posts]So in everything that we say, we should always remember that it may cost us our lives, make us enemies, lead to our downfall, incite violence, or enable us start a passion of a life time, enable us spark the greatest revolution of our time and bring change to this world.
Words can do good or bad, however what they do is fully up to us , the manufacturers and speakers of these words.
