In this day and era it’s so unfortunate that the leaders we choose front their caustic ulterior motives instead of serving the purpose for which they were installed.
It’s so archaic to want to stall progress for your fellow countrymen in the name of some phony agenda and trust me in Uganda it has become tuneful to lie to people and get to the power then do totally different things.
Tell Me A Politician That Doesn’t Want To Be A Cabinet Minister!
Till this day few of the basic political questions that confronted Uganda at independence have been settled. The best a Ugandan politician will do is formulate a symbol or sign to be used during campaign.
Next on their agenda will be to find a slogan that is companionable or rather pleasant to the ears of the voters. In the event he/she would hire a few hooligans to scream at the top of their voices
He/ She will assume appealing to audience of the populous is going on to take a very good picture (preferably in suit) and make as many posters as possible (a move most Ugandans are okay with).
When tasked to explain his/her manifesto, the person in question will then dish out bars of soap, sugar, basins, and a few pennies to the locals.
In addition he/she will issue a statement (rather recite the slogan) that we have all crammed so well by then cause of the pennies in our pockets, “Change, Development And Justice for all”.
Come voting the fellow reaps through the elections and is flying off to the swearing in ceremony, at which he stammers of course. Partially because the electorate bestowed upon him a duty he wasn’t ready for.
They sold out their vote and handed the prosperity of their land to the devil himself because this man or woman has a totally different agenda, becoming a cabinet minister or government blue eyed boy/girl.
He will go against all his virtues, ethos and principles to please those that he hopes will hand him the silver price, a pivotal position in the government.
65% of all the people that surface during the campaign season have this sort of mindset and it’s up to us to restrain such fellows. Unfortunately we haven’t done so well at it these past few years.
